International service

Some days you're the statue - but one Sunday evening in 2010, Mark was definitely the pigeon!

Collecting a family returning to Heathrow, he was approached by a Swiss family of five that had to get to Geneva urgently - but all flights were cancelled because of the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud. After dashing home to get his passport and a few belonginings, they were on their way to Geneva a couple of hours later, along with two others that

had asked to come along for the ride.

14 hours and 640 miles later, all passengers had been safely delivered to Geneva, happily handing over the £2,000 fare to Mark - who promptly booked in to a B&B for several hours of very well-earned rest.

Eyjafjallajökull - impossible to pronounce, but it cost the airline industry $200M per day for several weeks.
